    Explore the Visitor Centre and archaeological remains of Britain's only known chariot-racing arena, Colchester's Roman Circus. Guided tours of this internationally important Scheduled Monument on Heritage Sundays at 12 noon and 1 pm. Roman Re-enactors will be here, as well as some 'Roman' activities for children including Splatus the Rattus!

    The Roman Circus was built nearly two thousand years ago and discovered by the Colchester Archaeological Trust in 2004. Designed for fast-paced chariot racing, it's the only circus known in Britain. On Heritage Sundays, the Visitor Centre is open from 11 am, closing at 4 pm, with light refreshments available until 3.30 pm. Entry to the Visitor Centre is free. Free 60 minute tours of the Visitor Centre and archaeological site start at 12 noon and 1 pm - Meet at the scale model of the Circus in the Visitor Centre.
